The series consists of copies of 36 report binders containing approximately 3,600 news releases issued by the Department of Public Works from 1945 to 1953. Also included is a seven-volume index to these and other press releases from the department's successor agency, the Department of Transportation. The majority of the press releases deal with bids received and contracts awarded by the department for various construction projects, as well as announcements that maps of land parcels acquired for rights of way have been filed with the Department of State.
